Have you ever noticed that it’s nearly impossible to find a right angle in nature? From life’s smallest particles to the heavenly bodies dotting the galaxy, our natural world is made of lines that curve — as if to remind us that everything moves in cycles and circles, and that we, too, are made to be fluid and adaptive.

It turns out, Mother Nature is a storyteller. This month, the EEC is celebrating her wisdom and beauty, her softness and ferocity, and the litany of organic forces that shape our lives. We’ll venture into the great unknown with stories of outdoor survival that bring us to a breaking point, then bask in the healing powers of peaks, woods, and waves. We’ll embrace the teachings of animals and other living beings whose wordlessness speaks volumes. We’ll find ourselves where we find ourselves; in the wild places that free our minds to discover who we want to be.

For all of April, the Earth is our featured main character, beckoning us inward and onward. Let’s turn our eyes and ears to what she has to say.

There’s no place like home,

April: Wild and free

Our guest host and editors revel in the wonders of the natural world.

Bingeable Books
hosted by Liz Montesano

"The books we’re reading in August have a common thread. They’re easy to pick up and
they’re hard to put down. I think this type of bingeable book is perfect for the summer.
Maybe you’re at the beach for a weekend and you want to start and finish a book while you’re there. Maybe you’re on a long flight sitting in a tiny, overpriced coach seat and you need to dissociate for a few hours. There’s nothing worse than lugging a book around all summer in the heat and humidity and never even opening it."

"My vibe this month and really my vibe all summer has been mood reading!! I’ve read a ton of different books from all over the genre spectrum and I’ve mainly given myself a lot of grace when it comes to what/how much I’ve been reading this summer. With that in mind, my vibe is low pressure, read what you want but also if you change your mind that’s more than okay."
